About the Series:
The series is set in the fictional town of Nouvion in German-occupied France and revolves around the hapless café owner, René Artois. René finds himself caught in a web of hilarious situations involving the French Resistance, the German army, and various other eccentric characters.

The show’s humor stems from the absurdity of the situations and the clever wordplay, often involving misunderstandings and double entendres. René tries to juggle his affairs with his wife, his mistress, and the German officer Heinrich and keep everyone happy while avoiding detection and staying out of trouble.

Series 1 and 2 of ‘Allo ‘Allo! established the show’s unique style and introduced viewers to memorable characters like René (Gorden Kaye), his wife Edith (Carmen Silvera), the waitresses Yvette (Vicki Michelle) and Maria, the French Resistance leader Michelle, and the bumbling German officers Colonel Von Strohm (Richard Marner) and Lieutenant Gruber. These talented actors brought the characters to life. Their performances contributed to the success and popularity of the show.

‘Allo ‘Allo! has been praised for its witty writing, talented ensemble cast, and its ability to find humor in the darkest of times. The show’s success lies in its ability to balance farce with social commentary, offering a lighthearted and entertaining portrayal of life during wartime.
